My Impressions on the Diablo 3 Open beta

Well actually it's more of my impression on the game itself.
I feel that the game delivers what I expects from a Diablo game. The control is good, everything feels right and not clunky like most of the Diablo Clones out there. The environment looks good and definitely not cartoony. Enough to say that graphically, the game looks astonishing.

Gameplay-wise it is a solid game with even more action than its predecessor IMO. The number of available skills is a bit limited but I understand what Blizzard is trying to do. And simplifying the gameplay is not always a bad thing. It actually makes it a lot more appealing to me personally.

In short(although this is already short) I'd definitely buy Diablo 3 and will probably play it for quite some time. At least until Guild Wars 2 comes out :D

Here's some screenshot from the beta:

More Malifaux, MOAR!

Went almost two months without posting anything again...typical :P
Anywho, my Lady J and Som'er Teeth crews are done.
I've since bought enough minis to create another crew with Perdita Ortega as the master :D

Some random stuffs

Well, I actually don't have any relevant news of story or whatever to post here but I decided to post something anyway :D

First, on the miniatures front. My Malifaux Lady Justice Crew Box has arrived about 1-2 weeks ago and I've started painting it. I've done Lady Justice and The Judge and my friend did two of the three Death Marshalls. So it's one Death Marshall to go.

Another friend of mine ordered the Gremlins Crew Box and it has arrived a few days ago. He asked me to paint his army so I'll going to do just that after I finished all my work(level design for an iPhone game, rules draft for another friend's miniature game, article for Gamezine, and painting my own miniatures).

Now, off to the MMO front. Since Warhammer Online I've been in and out of some MMOs, mostly international ones. I've tried DDO, Dragon Oath, Runes of Magic and recently, the closed beta of Allods Online. Allods Online is really interesting. It has similar features and feel as World of Warcraft but it's free and offers cooler races to play(love those Gibberlings and Arisen). I tried an Arisen Mage on closed beta and I'm loving it(especially since the Risen Mage's higher tier armor looks similar to the Cryxian Iron Liches from the Warmachine miniatures).
In short, cool game, cool races, looks great, plays nice and a must try for MMO lovers.

Alright, next...
I've just pre-ordered the Dragon Age RPG book from Green Ronin yesterday. It costs quite a lot of money but I think it's worth it. I got the PDF for free because of the pre-order and I'm satisfied with what the book has to offer, although it only offer content until 5th level.
I need to read the book and study the rules and after that I'm going to make an RPG campaign with it. Can't wait to play it with my friends at the store(my store, Gamer's Ground).

well, I suppose that's all...
I'll post again when something more interesting comes up.
Maybe some photos of my Malifaux army and some screens from Allods Online.....or not.

Malifaux

After Infinity, I searched around the net for some other interesting miniature game and found Malifaux. At first I wasn't really impressed by their miniature lines but after having the time to look at them carefully I love them. Here's the website for those who wants to see: www.wyrd-games.net

Aside from the interesting and characterful minis, Malifaux's gameplay really interest me. First, it uses no dice and instead uses playing cards(or custom made Fate Decks that could be replaced by normal playing cards) to resolve everything. Second, the game is more objective-based and not just some random slaughter-fest like most game I've played. Other games also implements objectives and such but I haven't seen one that implements it like in Malifaux.

So there it is, the unique miniatures and unique gameplay really made me fall in love with this game :D

I ordered the Lady Justice starter box and Perdita Ortega(not the box). My Perdita Ortega miniature has arrived just yesterday and I'm going to try to paint her like Tifa in Crisis Core.
I'm thinking of buying another starter as my second army. I'm thinking either Pandora(Neverborn Faction) or Rasputina(Arcanist Faction).

Here's Perdita:

The rest of the army

Here's the rest of my Yu Jing Army, the Guijia and Domaru Butai

Here's a group shot of all the Heavy Infantry on my army list:

There's also some pic on Hordes. My friend painted these for me. The result is far more superior than whatever I can try to do to my minis. These 2 minis are Absylonia, Terror of Everblight and Nephilim Soldier from the Legion of Everblight faction.

Painting Miniatures - 1st try

Well, as I promised...here's a photo of my Infinity minis that I painted myself :)
I just tried miniature painting for the first time so I suppose the result could be better but hey, practice makes perfect so maybe I'll get the hang of it after a few dozen more miniatures :D
The painting's not 100% done yet though, I still need to do some highlights on some part of the minis.

I haven't finished the Domaru Butai and Celestial Guard yet and the store where I bought these minis was out of Shaolin Monks. I've finished the Guijia figure today but haven't got the chance to take a photo of it.

To Infinity and Beyond

No, it's not a ramble about Toys Story but instead, it's about a Tabletop Skirmish Miniature Game(or whatever you want to call it) called Infinity.
Well, Infinity is a Tabletop Miniature Game from Corvus Belli which is a company residing in Spain. The game uses manga aesthetics to present a marvelous sci-fi world filled with conflict and plenty of interesting figures.

I'm just starting to play the game(well actualy I've only read some of the rules, but I like what I read) and have chosen Yu Jing as my army. I've ordered the Starter Pack for Yu Jing and two other units: the Shaolin Warrior Monks and the Hsien Warrior.

Infinity is not a pre-painted miniature game so I'd have to paint all of those myself. I'm still new at this miniature painting stuff(I have a Nephilim Soldier from Hordes but my friend painted it for me) but I'm thinking of using the colors from the character Alphard from Canaan(a great Anime).

Here's what she looks like:

Well, that's it for now. I'll post some photos when the figures have arrived and when I finished painting them. Until then, if any of you're interested in Infinity, check out www.infinitythegame.com
If you're living in Indonesia, just contact me if you're interested in ordering some Infinity minis :D

The Day of Fire and Water

One day, two disasters, and I'm involved in both of them(well, kind of). Just my luck, eh?
The first disaster, "Fire" is of course the Oil Depot Fire in Plumpang, which happened on January 18th. The area is quite close to where I live, not very close but close enough so that if something goes awry, the fire will certainly spread to the area where I live. So what's the most reasonable thing to do? my family decides to go back to the old house, the same old house that has always sufer from floods in the last two years(well, not last year but the road IS flooded).

And whoop-dee-do, we have our second disaster, "Water". Around 12.00PM it starts raining and around 01.00AM I got to the old house and watch some TV news then went to sleep on around 02.00AM. The rain gets worse and it starts flooding on 03.00AM, that's just great. So we hop to the cars and try to get the heck out of the neighbourhood. But no, it can't be THAT easy, the road just have to be packed with people and all the crossroads are filled with cars that are parked there to avoid the water. And what do we get? around half an hour wait inside the car, in the middle of the road, with water rising all around us. Thankfully we got to the larger road at around 03.30AM. We wait there until 06.00AM and when we saw that the water level is lower, we went straight to the new house. Heck, contained fire near the area is far better than living with water up to your knee(inside the house).

So there you have it, hopefully the worst day of my life...

Happy New Year?....whatever

Well, as usual, I "forgot" to post anything here for a few months, mostly because of Warhammer Online. Although I've suspended my account since December because I need some time off from the game. Still a great game IMO, I just need more time to play other games(namely, Fallout 3).

I won't be discussing Fallout 3 though, because I think the game is just OK in my book, not that great but still a good game.

What I will be discussing(for a bit) is Monsterpocalypse. The Collectible Miniature Game featuring giant monsters. The game's very tactical in which you must really plan and think about your next moves, almost like chess. The theme itself really interests me because of the obvious references to popular giant monster movies like Godzilla and those japanese movies like Ultraman. They even have a Cthulhu faction called the Lords of Cthul, the faction I'm currently using.

I'll post some photos of my collection when I have some time, but for now...I'm off.

oh....err...Happy New Year 2009(I'm just 9 days late, no biggie right?)

WAR is here!

At last, I got my Warhammer Online DVD.
Well, I don't have time to write much about it, the game awaits :D
So, I'll just post a photo of the DVD and two screenshots of my characters

Here's the DVD:

And here are the screenshots of my characters:
Name: Krieger
Class: Warrior Priest
Server: Thorgrim
Guild: Fear the Boot

Name: Bloodsteel
Class: Disciple of Khaine
Server: Ironclaw
Guild: OrdeBaru

For those who wants to meet me in-game, just /tell me. Sometimes my brother plays the character for RvR but most of the time it's me playing the characters.
Now, I'm going back to WAR.

WAR is Coming!!!(or not...)

First, I want to say whoa it's been more than two years since my last post here. Well, that's what you get for being a lazy-ass procrastinator. But hey, who reads this blog anyway?

Anyway, regarding the title...
That's right, WAR is coming...to my PC at least.

I've been following the development of WAR(Warhammer Online) since a year ago. I saw all of the production podcasts and all of those interesting interview featuring Paul barnett(man, I like that guy, he's one of the reasons why I bought Warhammer Online...beside the game itself :P).

About a week ago, I checked www.indosoftwareboutique.com to buy Warhammer Online but sadly, they're out of stock. So I waited until October 10th and went to their store to buy the game. Result? still out of stock. And again, at October 12th I went there again and you know what? still nothing.
So, I decided to just pre-order the game from the store. They said that the game would be coming on October 15th. But sadly it was delayed until October 16th. Now, this is the best part... it's 19.34 right now and guess what? NO WARHAMMER. This is what I get for living in a country where "express" means "maybe tomorrow".

Now let's just hope it really does come tomorrow...or else there'll be more than just WAR coming...(not really, I'd probably too lazy to do anything about it...I'll just wait...patiently).

So...what'll I do after I got my game?
I've been interested in the Warrior Priest class for quite a long time now but I think my friend who will also play WAR would want to play on the Destruction side which would force me to choose either the Chaos Chosen(love the armor), Disciple of Khaine(the equivalent of the Warrior Priest on the Dark Elf side), or the Black Orc(big brutish orc? gotta love'em).
Anyway, If I'm to play Order, I'd be playing on Thorgrim server to join the Fear the Boot guild. The guild's founded by the guys at my current fave podcast Fear the Boot.
If I play Destruction though, it'll probably in the Ironclaw server where most of the Indonesian players are based.

Well, now the only thing I have to do is wait...
I'll post something tomorrow to report on my first try at WAR(or not...).

PS: I'm to lazy to post any picture...maybe I'll post a picture or two of my character in WAR(or not...).

Updates and stuffs...

Well, this past few weeks, I played plenty of games, web-based, MMORPG and single-player game :) Here's some very short reviews:

1. Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion (www.elderscrolls.com) - Single Player RPG
Who doesn't know the awesomeness which is Oblivion ? Don't you dare call yourself Role Playing Gamers if you haven't tried this game !!! This game is just...awesome. Some people says that Oblivion feels too ..."console"-like. But i find it to my liking :) First, the game offers the freedom to do almost anything and to go anywhere you want. Second, the game offers a more simplified gameplay features (some may call this "dumbed-down" features), like Fast-Travel and the simplified HUD. There may be disagreement about these things, but "to each their own" , eh ?
Oblivion's graphic are just gorgeous !!! breathtaking landscapes fill the horizon and just waiting for you to explore them :) For those of you who like RPGs, you should try this game out..seriously ! I also found an interesting podcast you shoult check out and listen, over HERE.

2. RAN Online Indonesia (www.ranonline.co.id) - F2P MMORPG
I've spoke about this game on my last post. Tried the game until lvl 20 and my opinion is...Interesting, for awhile. At first, the idea of you being a high-school student and fight with students from other schools and level up by beating up hostile AI-Lowlifes is kind of interesting. But after a few hours of hitting and killing and hitting and killing and eating tons of bread, I got kind of bored. It's good that the game's free to play though, so I'm not protestin' :)

3. X-Kings (www.x-kings.com)
Well, I already talk about this game before, but now that i'm much higher in the ranks I like this game even more. Plenty of technology to research, balancing Offense and Defense and choosing the right player to attack :) Try it out :) it's fun ^^

4. World of Dungeons (http://world-of-dungeons.net)
A new web-based RPG game. The whole idea of the game is to create a dungeon exploring party and get some loot from dungeons. Plenty of Class and Races to choose from(if you pay) and forcing you to group is actually a nice idea (for a web-based game) so that you could (and should) interact with other players to create a party.

5. Star Wars Combine (www.swcombine.com)
A simulation RPG for Star Wars fans :) This game is quite different from other web-based RPGs, because the gameplay is very complex. You play this game as if you're really living inside the Star Wars universe. The game is quite slow-paced so you don't have to check it out every hour or so. It's fun for those who likes to role-play.

Well, that's all the game i've played until now, let's go to the next random stuff :)
For those of you who like School Rumble, the second session dubbed "School Rumble Second Term" is released !!! for more info, check out www.wannabefansubs.net (you can also download the movie there and check out their Wiki :) )

I guess that's all for now :)
cya ^^

The force is strong in this one :P

Well i got bored playing SEAL Online after 2-3 weeks and i got back to play Guild Wars casually. After a while I installed Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic 2 again :) and this time, i'll finish it for sure (didn't finished the game the first time I played....got bored somehow...).
Here's my character: Alina Valm, currently a Jedi Sentinel 15/Sith Lord 1 :)

And here's screenshot from the game:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/Xankriegor/DarkSide.jpg

On another note, i'm going to play Star Wars Role Play (d20 rule) with some friends :)
here's my character Avinash Raad Shankar, a Kaleesh Jedi Guardian: (what's with the name you say ? well, since Grievous' real name is Qymaen Jai Sheelal, i might as well use some hybrid Arabic-Indian names too right :P ? )
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/31432646/
The pic is created by my friend Rosenkreuz (that's the link to her DeviantArt site up there)

Well that's all for now :P
cya later (most likely on 28-30 April, when Guild Wars : Factions came out)

Guild Wars Invitation contest winners and some random stuff

Okay, i received plenty of e-mails and 3 of the first e-mails are the winners :) I'll send the invitation immediately. Have fun at the preview event :)
For those of you who want to meet me in-game, my IGN is Katrina Bloodsteel. But most likely I'll be playing a new character (maybe a Ritualist), I'll name that character Rylia Bloodsteel (whisper this one if you can't contact my other char :) ).

Okay, now on to the next news. There's 2 new MMORPG coming to Indonesia and 1 "Big Thing" rumored to be coming later this year.

The first MMORPG that came out is SEAL Online, a "cute & cuddly"-type MMORPG. I test-play it with some of my friends, and if you guys could get pass the "cute & cuddly" part (or if you like "cute & cuddly" games) SEAL is a good game to play, it'll get somewhat repetitive at times, but still a nice game.

The next MMORPG which will be released is RAN Online. The international version of this game has been out for quite awhile. I've played on the international server for a few minutes (it's lagging like hell over there) and i think it might (can't decide with just 5 minutes of play time) be a good game, we should just wait and see :P (well anyway, i've signed for the closed beta). Click this link if you guys wanna check it out: http://www.ranonline.co.id

Now we get to the main info. There's a rumor (or fact ?) that one of the greatest MMORPG will be imported to Indonesia. You wanna know what it is ? yep, World of Warcraft !!! I was very shocked when i read about it in one of the local Online Game magazine. Some of my friends (including myself) are skeptical about this, but we shall wait and see.

That's all for now
see ya :P

Guild Wars : Factions Preview Event and Invitation Giveaway

Another Preview Event ? you betcha !
This time there'll be PvE !!! 4 missions will be available to play.
But there's one downside to this new event, you can't just make a new account and play like the last Weekend event.
For those who want to play in this Preview Event you must have a Guild Wars account, that means for those of you who already created an account at the last event can play and for those who already own a full retail Guild Wars account (like myself) can also play.

But what about those who doesn't have an account ?
Don't worry, Guild Wars players who owns a full account can send up to 3 invitations to other peoples.

So now let's get to the main part :)
I'm going to give away 3 invitations for free. But there's a catch, it's quite easy actually ^^
Just go to both of these links:
Fame Link
and
Referral Link

For the Fame Link, just click yes and it's finished :) (remember to make a screenshot as proof)
For the referral link, you just have to register under my ID, activate your account and login (i'll automatically know if you've done this).

Now, after you've done both of the tasks, send me an e-mail (allabout_ro@yahoo.com) containing the screenshot from the clicked fame link and your username which u have registered under my ID.
Use "GW Invitation" as the subject or i'll ignore your e-mail :)
3 People who sent first will be rewarded an Invitation for the 14 day Preview Event :)

This contest ends 1 day before the Preview Event(March 24th) and i'll immediately send the invitation to the winners at that day.

Note: For more info on the event check out www.guildwars.com

Browser Based Games :)

Well, almost nothing to report :3
It's holiday and i'm just wasting time everyday :D
You know, the usual stuff, game mechanics design. Oh, i designed a new setting btw... it's unfinished right now, i'll post it here when it's done.
This new setting will be used for other "projects". A TCG(Trading Card Game), Browser Based RPG and a PnP RPG. (All of those projects are'nt commercial projects or anything, it's just my personal hobby).

On another note, i'm currently playing some pretty interesting Browser Based games. You should try these games if you're looking for something to play in your spare time.
Here's the list, in no particular order :
1. Imperia Online (www.imperiaonline.org)
A great browser based strategy game, reminds me of Age of Empires (not exactly the same, but it's quite similar).

2. X-Kings (www.x-kings.com)
For those of you who played Kings of Chaos, you'll like this game. It's a strategy game where you can research technology, train units and attack other players. You generate units from Support Points which you could get from other players, having a commander or from recruiting officers. This game is not as complex as Imperia Online, but it's still good :). Clink on the link up there to register as my officer. Don't worry, it's a win-win situation. Everyone gets SP :)

3. Phantasy RPG (http://PhantasyRPG.com)
This Browser based RPG reminds me a bit of classic RPGs. You got an explorable world, turn-based RPG combat, pets, and plenty more. The only downside is that it take quite a while to load the site (with my connection :P ). Click the link up there to register as my follower. Or if you're not interested in playing/registering as my follower, at least click this link
http://phantasyrpg.com/main.php?view=119416
to give my character some exp and crowne(gold) :)

4. The Crims (www2.thecrims.com)
A browser based game with n interesting setting, be a bad guy and rob someone, build a drug empire, act as a pimp or whatever you want. You could even win an X-Box 360 if you're good. Try it out :)

5. Mech Crusaders (www.mechG.com)
An RPG with a futuristic setting, be a commender of a mech army and fight to gain fame and fortune. I played this game since 1-2 years ago but stopped playing it for about a year, now i'm back, not because i'm bored but because this game is great :) (well ok, partly because i have nothing else to do :P)

6. Men & Dragons
For those of you who wanted a browser based game which doesn't take too much of your time, this is the game. This game is quite new and you play with 2 characters. Your first character is your knight, you use this character to attack other people's dragons, or hunt wild dragons for gold and items. Your second character, the dragon guards your treasury from other people's knight. Try it out, it's quite fun.

Well that's it for now, see ya later :)

A Silly Wintersday Story (Guild Wars Screenshots)

Merry Christmas everyone :D
Guild Wars made a very special Christmas event, and i happen to have some screenshots, enjoy !
Bear with me as i tell this silly story :D

Our journey starts in Ascalon, near the fountain. There's 2 new NPCs there: Jakob & Katie, Jakob will tell a story about Wintersday in the world of Tyria, about the battle ensuing between Dwayna and Grenth. Look around and you'll notice that Ascalon is covered in snow and there's also a big christmas tree.

After Ascalon, we go to Droknar's Forge, why not Lion's Arch ? save the best for the last :D that's what i say. here we can see that the dwarves are also celebrating christmas. But look closely, there's a melted snowman. I wonder who did that :)

Next, we go to Lion's Arch. Now the main event will start :D. It would appear that Grenth and Dwayna's battle are more "serious" than I first thought. Lion's Arch is filled with new stuffs, namely new quests and crafter. One quest is for Dwayna, to help the villager's have their presents, in this quests you will meet a new friend: Freezy the Snowman ^^. Of course he's not alone, he got plenty of friends. And what do we get for helping Freezy ? looky here :P and here.

But is that all ? of course not, Grenth also have a quest for all. Grenth hates presents and he wants to destroy it all. Although the snowmen tried to stop Grenth's minions, they have failed at last. Helped by the foul Grentchies, Grenth destroyed all presents. But hope is not lost, for Dwayna calls upon her champions and the two god's champions clash in a horrible battle: Snowball Fight !!!

We're not done yet, there's plenty more :D
More weapons and items, for one and for all. and gingerbread cookies for the Tomb of Primeval Kings. PvP will never be the same. Wave your candies and take a good look.
Cuz this only happens once in a year :D
Merry Christmas everyone ^^
(sorry if the story's quite lame :P)

More random stuffs

Well, in the last few months i've found some interesting stuffs in the net and also went to some cosplay event, not that good but quite nice(especially the ladies there :D)

For those of you who likes to read comics, i found these interesting webcomics to read, have fun:
Cheer! a webcomic about a group of cheerleaders. This story is a spinoff from another webcomic (The Wotch) quite interesting also, but i like Cheer!'s art better.
Another interesting webcomic is Dungeon Crawl Inc. , like Order of the Stick this webcomic tells a story about a crazy bunch of adventurers which is set in a D&D world. There's also Aoi House and Lowroad75 , both are also cool webcomics.

Now for the gaming news:
1. found an interesting free MMORPG called KAL Online , quite fun and my crappy internet connection coul handle it... so that's always a plus :D
2. for those of you who haven't tried The Movies, u should go to the nearest game store and buy this game, it's very cool. The guys at my campus creates all sort of hilarious movies with this game and it's very fun !!!

Well, i suppose that's it for now :D

P.S: For those of you who want to find me, try:
Katrina Bloodsteel in Guild Wars
Xylestia in KAL Online
Julius Rosenberg or Xandreas Ardentum in FCRO

Random stuffs

I've designed a custom race for D&D:
Half Vampire

The result of Human-Vampire mating doesn't usually exist, being that the mate is usually killed or turned into a vampire after the mating. But in several cases, the mate could be saved in time...or rather...too late. In this case, the born offspring is a half-vampire, while looks exactly like ordinary human, still hungers for blood. Half-Vampires receives the traits which vampires have. Including inert magical abilities. In most cases, people would misunderstood Half-Vampires as born spellcasters, like sorcerers or perhaps psions.

Personality: Most Half-Vampires are antisocial and likes dark and mysterious places. They find occult stuffs interesting and are fond to places which emanates dark energies.

Physical Description: Most Half-Vampire looks just like a human, Half-Vampires from other races doesn't exist. Human Half-Vampires exists because it has something to do with human's body metabolism. Half-Vampires height is the same as an average human, and weighs like an average human. Other features resembles that of a human, except for one.

Half-Vampire's canines are longer than average humans, not as long as normal vampire but still quite long. Half-Vampires usually have red or yellow eyes, but there are some who have normal eye color. Half-Vampires casts a reflection in mirrors but the reflection is blurry, they also have shadow but is also blurry, if it is noticable at all.

Relations: Half-Vampires lives just like any other humans, but they prefer solitude and silence. Half-Vampire community is something unheard of, they usually scatter everywhere and doesn't even realize that there are many who shares the same fate.

Alignment: Although they thirst for blood, Half-Vampires are not always evil, some are good of heart and only feed from animal blood. But because of that same blood thirst, they are not exactly lawful. Half-Vampires alignment ranges from Neutral Good to Chaotic evil. Half-Vampires cannot be lawful.

Half-Vampire Lands: Half-Vampires have no land of their ow, but they are welcome in any in any human cities or any society that usually accepts humans.

Religion: Half-Vampires chose religion as humans do.

Language: Half-Vampires speaks common, but most can hear and understand what the dead speaks.

Names: Half-Vampire names are common human names.

Adventures: Just as humans, Half-Vampires will eventually find themselves in an adventure. Although they are solitary, most would be mercenary, harnessing their natural (or unnatural) powers to use.

Half-Vampire Racial Traits
- +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -4 Constitution: Half-Vampires are faster and stronger than humans, but their bodies are weak and fragile, and they constantly crave for blood.
- Medium-size: As medium size creatures, half-vampires have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- Half-Vampire base speed is 30 feet.
- Half-Vampires have cold and electricity resistance of 5
